I’m having a major dilemma about my wedding next year, and the issue of children.
Initially my fiance and I had decided the only child to be there would be our flower girl, who is also my goddaughter. However she has a younger sister, and her parents (one of whom is one of my six bridesmaids) will be travelling a long way for the wedding – plus it is my bridesmaid’s birthday the day after the wedding. So we figured we would have to invite her sister as well, as it wouldn’t be fair not to-but have no other children there.
I was hoping that my other bridesmaids, three of whom also have young children, would be okay with this – as they live in the city where the wedding is and from I gather, have childcare available. However, when I’ve mentioned it to them, they’ve simply said it’s my day and up to me what I do.
I feel quite worried about this, as I can sense they are unhappy about it. However, I’m also a bit disappointed as I hoped they would understand.
Plus, if we threw it open to all our guest’s children, we would have about 10 children all under the age of 8. We love children, but don’t want that.
By the same token I guess I can understand that my other bridesmaids must be a little bit miffed.
I feel this is really becoming an issue and just don’t know what to do.
