@Ivorybuttons:  I meant it in the sense that dresses today have more embellishments, sparkles, rouching,or lace where the gloves will not compliment the dress.  Dresses like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s or Nicole Kidman’s red dress in Moulin Rouge work well with the gloves.  Note, I’m not comparing to the embellishments of the 80s because I don’t even remember seeing the gloves then.  Most dresses I remembered were long sleeves with the middle finger glove thing.

Never liked them. I have rarely seen them tastefully done. Rarely.

I rocked these back in 5th grade:

But nowadays, lol, I’m not that into any type of bridal glove.

It can be pretty in some circumstances. More often it’s tragically bad. It’s not something that I even considered, but I’ve see pictures where it looked okay…..seems to be more a cultural/regional thing.

I wore lace fingerless glvoes for my Elementary School graduation, I still regret that fashion choice. I personally do not like gloves for weddings, but some people love the look. To each her own.

I had gloves for my 1st wedding. That wedding however never happened… I like them with certain dresses and themes… we were having an Alice in Wonderland Halloween wedding, I thought they were fitting.

(my gloves had a finger slip where I could take my ring finger out of the glove to put on the wedding band)

In some cases, gloves make sense. It really depends on whether the bride wants to wear them and how nice they accentuate the gown.

I think gloves can look really good on a bride on some occassions.  I think that someone who is going for a vintage look could rock these…

Or someone who has major style or wants a rock/goth feel…

So yeah I think gloves can look good on the right bride 🙂 hmmm maybe I’m going to grab a pair… lol

@eloping: haha I have no idea why that suit is so short in the arms, I didn’t even notice.

I love gloves with the right dress but I would probably only use them for photo ops. I really love the old time vintage look.

ETA: My opinion might be influenced by my grandmother’s example though. She always wore gloves when she left the house. Her voice from my childhood: “A lady of breeding never goes out of the house with her head or hands uncovered. It is positively vulgar child!” LOL
