Yesterday, I was sick. It took me by surprise because I never get sick. For the life of me, I can’t figure out what I had because it doesn’t seem to fit and of the likely suspects; the flu, gastroenteritis (stomach “flu”), norovirus, or a common cold.
- no fever, temp of 98.4
- body ache (knees and lower back)
- minor headache but not sensitive to light or sound
- nausea- puked twice
- no diarrhea
- lasted for about 24 hours
I am trying to figure out what I had because I need to babysit tonight and want to know if I am contagious, and in what ways to prevent spreading it.

Stomach bug maybe. If you threw up today, you should not babysit tonight.

no fever and only lasting a day sounds like food poisoning

Those symptoms could fit dozens of different things. I’d either go to a doctor to be sure or cancel your babysitting appointment tonight to be safe, because I’d bet money that even a doctor wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly what you had.

I puked yesterday at noon, then at 9 pm. I felt way better after puking the second time. Today I feel normal again.
I was trying to think what I could have eaten that made me sick and I think I may have an idea. The other night I forgot a big pot of black bean soup on the stove overnight. It was there from about 8 pm to 8 am. I tossed it in the fridge without a second thought, because I have done that before and there’s no dairy or meat in it. I didn’t start feeling sick until about 3 days later though, so I don’t know if that’s what caused it.

This sounds like what I had, except I had achy knees.
It’s not the flu, which always involves the upper respiratory tract, but is a stomach virus.

I had something very similar after eating a prepacked salad (apprently full of all sorts of nasties). I was so tired, felt sick (although I wasn’t, but tried), I did have diarrhea though. My legs ached, I kept shivering and I had to put towels on the windows because the light killed!
The day after I was fine. Simple food poisoning I think. Sounds like you had the same.

That in fact was the flu. Just walked in from my pcp office and that’s the flu you had with every symptom! countingstars:
