So I ordered a dress of a chinese website back in February. The dress came in and it’s pretty but not exactly what I wanted but I loved it still. I tried it on and it fit me a tad big and had to be taken in. My grandma is a pretty good seamstress so I had her alter my dress for me. When I tried it on for her to get an idea of what had to be taken in THE BOW FELL OFF! It might just be me but I’m pretty sure that isn’t supposed to happen (sarcastic voice) We then looked and they pretty much did like 2 stitches to keep it in place but it also looked like they made a bow and then hot glued it to 2 strands and then sewed those strands to the dress. I’m glad it happened at home and not the day of and that my grandma was able to fix it but I’m not going to be buying any other dress from China if they are made that cheaply. Oh well end rant it was able to be fixed.

It really sucks that you had a bad experience… Like you said, luckily you got it fixed! Do you have any pics of it?

Can you tell us WHICH (the name) Off-Shore Bridal Supplier you used… having read other threads here on WBee, there does seem to be a lot of range between the quality of workmanship from one supplier to another.

I had a replica made of a Martin McCrea dress, but this replica was made in Tennessee, not CHINA! And the dress turned out horribly – no amount of alterations could fix it! So in an effort to save money, I threw several hundred dollars away!

I ordered my dress of IYOK.net
I guess I can’t complain I got what I paid for I suppose and I’m just glad we were able to get it fixed.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience. 🙁
If you want to try again, it seems that Dressilyme.com and Jasminesbridalshop.com have very good reviews from fellow bees. (I stalked the heck out of these boards doing research.)
And if you don’t want to try again, I’m so glad you have a grandmother who can help!

@MrsDPal811: Thanks for coming back and adding that info…
Personally I’ve never heard of this company, and did a GOOGLE and found they have very few entries here on WBee (that tells me something). How much research did you do beforehand ?
There does certainly seem to be better Off-Shore Chinese Bridal Suppliers that get much praise here on WBee. I personally, after doing a lot of reading, am thinking that I’ll go with either Jasmine’s Bridal or DressilyMe
Particularly like the fact that Jasmine’s Bridal will work one-on-one with a Bride to “create” a gown to her vision… so you can have it custom fit, choose fabrics, colour, mix and match (ie top from one dress, bottom from another etc). Literally like being able to design one’s own gown.
There are several Reviews here on WBee, and posts that show the story for the Bride from beginning to end… the vision, placing the order, pics from the Vendor, Package Delivery, and final results (photos). Those good stories, certainly make me feel less apprehensive about a large purchase that is going to happen overseas.
Oh well, I am glad it has all come together for you in the long run (that is indeed the important part). And hopefully it will perform well for you on your quickly approaching Wedding Day.

I guess I didn’t research much. There were a couple good reviews and had found a dress that they replicate from David’s Bridal that I had fallen in love with but it was out of our budget. Lesson learned. I love my dress but it’s not exactly what I wanted.
