I know there a lot of posts about this, but I thought I would share my experience so far.
I ordered my dress from ebay at the end of February. I had them custom make the size for me, because the bust it always too big in pre-made sizes. They said it would take about 5-7 weeks to arrive with it being custom made.
At 5 weeks, I e-mailed to see the progress of my dress. This was right after the earthquake/tsunami in Japan, and I was told that due to the circumstances in Japan it would take longer for them to make the dress. I could sympathize with that, but told them I needed the dress by May 1 (I have seen other bees be told they will get pictures/their dress will be shipped and the sellers keep puting it off, so I gave them a date; mind you this gave them over 2 months to make it-I think that’s plenty of time!)
Last night on ebay, I notice that my auction says “this ebay user is no longer a registered member”. I panicked because I have still not received the dress! And, I was not aware that you only had 45 days to file a claim. I am 4 days past the claim date so neither ebay or paypal will help me. (However paypal did give me the email address of the seller thankfully).
I emailed the shop and they did email me back right away (surprisingly)! They say it will take 7-10 days to ship (which is past the May 1 deadline I gave them which they don’t seem to care too much about). I will definately believe it when I see it.
I did read reviews before I ordered, and they had positive dress reveiws and good feedback. I did not however contact other people who had bought the dress, which I only thought about after the fact reading about it on here.
I also have since found another dress that I love anyways, so I was just going to try to sell this dress or use it for trash the dress or something since I couldn’t cancel the order, but I paid $$ for it and I either want the dress or my money back!!! I realize this is all my own fault, and yes I am kicking myself for even ordering it in the first place. Even if I do get the dress in the mail and it is good quality, I would still say I would never do this again!!!
So to bees wondering if they should do the China thing, I say be very cautious, know your claim deadline, or better yet, try to find your dream dress used or a sample for less!
And one more question to anyone who may know…if I don’t get the dress, could I try to file a claim with my credit card company, or will they say too bad so sad?
(And if I do actually get the dress I’ll be sure to post pics of quality for anyone still considering this option)
