Hi Bees,
So after spending a while in Bloomingdales looking at China, me and my mom picked out the Kate Spade Sonora Knot set. At first glance, I wasn’t WOW’d by it , but when we set it on the sample table, it just looked so classic (which is what i was going for). I especially like how it had gold and platinum bands which could make it really versatile. So it could go with a variety of color schemes/seasons. What do you guys think of it? I would also LOVE to see what china sets other have picked out.

i really love that china set! i was debating between that one and the one i ended up asking for (the tea cup swayed me lol). i was the same as you, wanting something classic. i saw all of the ones at bb&b that were very modern with the pictures and stuff on them which i thought were absolutely really cute, but i wanted to make sure in twenty years i still loved it just as much. here is the one i ended up going with:

it is by Mikasa and i found it at Macy’s.
anyway, yes, i love your choice!!

Well, we are not getting fine china. We are a miltary family and it’s just one more thing to break in a move. Plus, my grandmother is giving me her heirloom set of platinum banded china after we are settled somewhere. But, if I were going to register for some, this totally would have been it:
Kate Spade Belle Boulevard- It’s beautiful, but crazy expensive. $129/place setting!

This is the casual dishes we ended up registering for.
Mikasa Circle Chic in black, a much more reasonable $40/place setting

Gorgeous! We’re registered for Lennox Hannah Platinum, which photographs like plain boring white china with a simple platinum band (so I’m not posting it! 😉 but it has some really cool white-on-white patterns that go really nicely with our silver (gift from his parents)!
I’m kind of ridiculously excited about it.

@azinaugust !!!!!! That’s my great grandparents’ china!! I almost cried when I saw it!! My granny gave it to me and my mom in turn gave it to my brother and his first wife and she broke all of it 🙁 I’m glad someone else on this planet has the same pattern and will love it!!!

Thanks @bloodgo1 I originally though I wanted something less busy and more timeless like your selection, but then I found out we had a full 12 piece set of that (yes including tea cups and serving pieces) so I counted it as a pretty awesome score :o)

My grandma is giving me her set of Platinum rimmed lennox china. It looks something like this.

So I opted for something a little more funky to put on my registry.
This is Kate Spade June Lane in gold.

I LOVE china. And was working for a fine china company when we got engaged. I lost my job before the wedding so we bought a ton with my discount before we left and then just registered for pieces that I couldn’t get. I have a ridiculous collection:
12 place settings of Wedgwood Oberon

6 of Martha Stewart Bouquet Silver to mix and match with 6 of Wedgwood Sterling

And various accent plates and all purpose bowls to switch it up a bit

plus Vera Wang Holly Wreath for Christmas and Wedgwood Eternity for everyday

Believe me- I got a smokin’ deal on most of it. Guess who needs a china cabinet?

We registered for Wedgwood’s Platinum Signet. Not hugely exciting to look at in the photo, but clean, classic and elegant on the table.
