@Karng89:  The Qipao/cheongsam I chose was more A line, and I loved how it had traditional elements but was modernized and totally comfortable! I think a western red satin gown would be perfect for you.

This was what I had as my chinese dress, it was a hybrid of Chinese and Western style:

Comfortable and easy to walk with.

I think, though, a red Chinese dress would be perfect, or maybe a dress made of Chinese fabric, such as red silk with gold phoenix designs. They look so elegant in person and in pictures.

My mother wants me to wear the traditional kua for tea ceremony. I’m trying to get her to be ok with Qipao – which we already order from a tailor. I’ve seen bride wear their wedding or evening gown. It really depend on how comfortable plus what you can get away with. I on other hand might end up wearing a Kua for Tea ceremony which will be held at the banquet restaurant, then change into my Qipao.

@evaeva.li: I am looking to wear a Chinese style evening gown for my fiancé and his family on our wedding day. Would love to know where you found yours! I’m up in Ottawa, Canada and it’s harder to find this type of dress here compared to Toronto and Montreal.

@yukitenshi:  I actually bought this one from Ebay. Type in Chinse Red Dress and you will see quite a bit of them.

(sorry for the late reply)
