winterwedding17:  I LOVE Chipotle. If I went to a wedding and everything was fancy, then I was told to belly up to the burrito buffett, I’d give some serious side eye. If the entire thing had a more casual feel to it, then I’d be less bothered.

My work has Chipotle cater all the time, even our very nice events. It works well because they can accommodate a lot of different dietary needs and it’s always a crowd-pleaser!

winterwedding17:  I would LOVE Chipole for a wedding. Especially if I can make my own tacos or bowl. I would not turn my nose up. It is your wedding and your budget. No matter what you serve, not everyone will be happy and you will not be able to please everyone.

I would take sofritas over cold, soggy vegetarian pasta I usually get at weddings any day

I would not be psyched because of their recent, widespread, food poisoning issues.

that being said I loooove Mexican and the other “not fancy enough” foods – BBQ, pizza etc. they are way better than crappy banquet “fancy” dry wedding salmon and overcooked “filet mignon”.

As far as the food itself, I think Chipotle is a pretty easy crowd-pleaser. I love me some Chipotle. I’d be concerned, though, for two reasons:

    1) People will think it’s not fancy enough — even a reception with just appetizers or cake and punch would be more “classy” but still cheap.

    2) The mess factor. Nobody has brought this up, but all the rice and beans and salsa have the potential to get really messy, and I wouldn’t want things dripping all over my hands or my nice dress at a wedding.

As long as it’s a casual wedding, I think it’d be fine.

I’m into it, but I’m not sure how older folks would feel about it. There’s also the question of what you mean when you say that some aspects of your wedding will be fancy. To me, Chipotle is about as casual as it gets. I don’t know, there’s also something about serving your guests fast food as their main meal that maybe doesn’t show the most respect for them. I can’t really explain it, just that I would be more on board with a local Mexican place catering.

I would be thrilled! I’m such a simple (or sometimes know as “picky”) eater. Oh and please provide the guacamole! Mmm.. 😉

Oh my goodness my fiance and I would love that.  We eat at Chipotle as much as we possibly can.  I would much prefer that over some dry catering hall chicken.

We’re doing a pizza party for our rehearsal dinner so I’m with you on the “saving money but still eating something good together” aspect.

You say that other aspects of your wedding are fancy? What are they? I love Chipotle and really enjoy their catered buffet but I do think it stinks be out of place at a fancy wedding.

arosebyanyothername:  Have you ever had chipotle? Or do you just have digestive problems in general that cause issues with a lot of food? If that’s the case I would think you always let the B&G know about your dietary restrictions? I don’t think it’s necessary to tell the guests in advance what you are serving. If you have intolerances it’s up to you to mention it.
