I showed a pic of the chair to a friend, and the first thing she said was “Wow that looks uncomfortable!” A normal person who isn’t planning a wedding wouldn’t have the slightest clue or really care what type of chairs there are I realized. I never noticed the chairs at a wedding I was at before I was engaged! But now, I just drool over the Chiavaris and how elegant they can make any room look.. but I think they are over my budget.

I also fit into the ‘Think they’re pretty but not for me’ club. Unless, the chairs at the venue are very ugly, I think the plain look is just as fine. 🙂

Thats a pretty picture. The thing that makes me nervous with chair covers (If I was debating it) is that it looks slippery to sit on. It sounds silly and maybe it’s just me though.  Embarassed If it’s in your budget, go for it (chivari). It’s more a cosmetic addition than anything else. I don’t think I’ve sat in one for a wedding, in recent memory, so I’m not sure if there’s a difference in comfort.

We debated the chivari chair issue as well but after the $8/chair price tag and an extra $2 for a cushion we said no.  We are lucky though that our venue has nice chairs, i.e. black and silver, very modern, and didn’t need to cover them up.

If it is in the budget I would prefer chivari chairs to chair covers anyday!

I know they’re a little more expensive, but there is just something timeless and elegant about chiavari chairs that I love!  As for comfort, they’re about as comfortable as any other chair.

It’ll depend on my final budget, of course, but if I can fit them in, they’d definitely be my big splurge.

I agree they are gorgeous, but the thought has also crossed my mind about comfort.

My thinking is…how many pictures from your wedding are going to be of your chairs?  I mean you’ll get some pictures of the setup and the chairs may be in the background of guest pictures…but you aren’t going to frame those, are you?  You’ll frame the ones of you and your Darling Husband.  So I (personally) would spend that money elsewhere.  Or on the honeymoon.  Or whatever.

Given the choice between chivaris and chair covers – we went with the chivaris, the price was going to be about the same, but the covers seemed like much more of a hassle.
