    I want mine! I’m from a very southern family and they love their guns. lol Mostly for hunting, but they do eat everything they kill, it’s not for sport. And I would want mine for protection.

    I’m actually a much bigger fan of my compound bow tho 🙂 haha

    Fiance is a gun enthusiast and has turned me into one too. We go to the shooting range a lot together. He’s had a permit since he turned 21 (he’s 26) and I’m seriously considering getting my first one. Oh and just for fun … This is our cake topper lol

    I don’t because I don’t really go anywhere I can carry but Darling Husband is going to get it in a few weeks. Shooting at the range is fun!! Skeet is way fun!

    Pretty extreme poll options. I do not have a gun, nor do I want one, but I am not afraid of them lol. FWIW, I am not anti-gun either.

    I recently moved from a tiny Colorado town where almost everyone I knew had/loved guns, but in upstate NY (where I moved) I know very few gun owners.

    Darling Husband and I do. You can say we’re gun enthusiasts lol. Darling Husband carries more than I do, but it just depends on where we are going and when. The area we live in isn’t exactly upscale either, and I’ve had my own personal concerns about my safety. We recently got a German Shepherd that will be starting protection training in the near future and since he’s a natural deterrent and in tune to his surroundings, I’ve felt a lot safer in general.

    Darling Husband and I regularly practice at the range to keep up on our skills and keep one bedside in case someone decides to break in and somehow gets past the dog. We understand guns aren’t for everyone and respect those who feel differently than we do, but it’s our right, our choice and ill be damned if I am left defenseless against a scumbag criminal who uses one with intent to harm me or my family.

    I took this pic and made a meme out of it:

    i think its great to have a gun for protection but personally for me i just cant. I have a child and cant imagine if it ever gets in the wrong hands and something bad happens :/ , but thats just me. Im kind of terrified of guns.

    I can’t really vote in the poll. I do not wish to own a gun, and while I generally do not mind that other people do, I want a hell of a lot more regulations on gun ownership.

    I’m sick of hearing of shootings happening every damn week, and I want regular mental health screenings, required training, required safes, etc.

    @ladyjustice:  This! All of it.

    Knowing how to shoot a gun or knowing my fiancé has one on him or by the bed makes me feel safer. Criminals will always have them, whether they’re banned or not, and I think we have the right to protect ourselves. I work as a crime reporter at a newspaper and that’s what made me seriously consider carrying. I’ve had people confront me about stories I’ve written (usually about their loved one committing a violent crime) in a threatening way and it has unnerved me.

    Darling Husband and I have guns.  He has a concealed carry permit.  I’m getting mine soon.

    I highly recommend the Sig Sauer P238 as a carry weapon.  It’s easy to conceal under a loose top and an absolute dream to shoot.

    I was afraid of guns until Darling Husband made me realize that if someone broke into the house, it would be up to us to defend ourselves.  The bad guys are always going to have guns and they’re always going to want to harm others.  We’re both fanatics about gun safety first and foremost. He’s looking into becoming an NRA instructor.

    My family has guns, always did. I think its great for other people but have no desire to own them myself. (I don’t even really like having sharp knives around lest I hurt myself while cooking alone!)

    In either case, in my mind just having a gun doesn’t mean safety? You still have to be on the alert for criminals and be super vigilant of your surroundings, and then be able to get out the gun quickly. I just can’t imagine juggling my purse, a big puffy winter coat, in some cases another bag or groceries, possibly a baby, and then digging out a gun in order to prevent a crime.

    So my answer would be, other people can have guns, and personally I am moving ASAP to a better neighborhood!
