I haven’t tried Clomid yet (looks like I may have to soon) so I don’t know a ton about this.  But here’s what I have researched so far:

Clomid has anti-estrogen effects that can cause your CM to dry up, thus making it harder to get pregnant.  One way to combat this is to use a sperm-friendly lubricant like Pre Seed.  Another way is to have an IUI where the sperm is deposited directly into your uterus, so you don’t need the fertile CM to help get the sperm from your vagina through your cervix and into your uterus.  It sounds like your doctor is taking a less invasive approach, and that sounds positive to me!  So although I don’t have experience, I do think that your doctor’s line of thinking is sound.  It’s best to avoid an invasive, expensive procedure if you don’t need it.  GOOD LUCK!

mrscandyv:  I did two rounds of 50mg clomid+250mcg ovidrel trigger with timed intercourse. Got my BFP last week! If it didn’t work this cycle we would have done IUI, hopefully it sticks and we won’t have to! Good luck!
