Anyone doing or seen a chocolate fountain @ an outdoor reception? We finally decided no cake since neither of us care for it and wanted to add a chocolate fountain to our dessert table along with our chocolate covered strawberries. My planner pointed out that Choco-fountain and outdoors don’t mix well with potential bugs, etc.!!! I hadn’t even considered this as a problem. ugh. Is it really a big concern or am I just in denial? We have tents..although probably no sides on the tents.

Well I don’t know about a wedding but I had one at my graduation party. It was in a garage but the doors were open the whole time and it was in the summer. I don’t think we really had problems with bugs or anything. I don’t see why it would be a problem.

I was at an outdoor wedding with a chocolate fountain …. After a short while, there were leaves and probably bugs….but the worst part was that it just got very, very, sloppy.
Chocolate fountains are fun, but you literally need someone who can dedicate their whole night to maintaining it.

my brother and SIL had their fountain at an ourdoor place and it was a huge issue. the fountain wasn’t covered by a tent or anything–just out in the open on a patio, next to the bar. the wedding took place in hot & humid south texas and there were a ton of bugs swarming around the thing. i dont know why they didn’t have it inside with the rest of the food.
needless to say, it was not used much because the bugs were also on the fruit.

wind also plays havoc and makes the chocolate get thicker/gloopy – you need to be out of the wind. even if you have it inside you have to have it away from open doors etc

Have not seen it at an outdoor wedding but they are magnets for everything that doesn’t belong in a fountain.
