Hi Ladies –
Please give me your honest thoughts/opinions about chocolate fountains at the reception. I’m neutral about it for the most part, but I’m VERY afraid that someone might accidentally get chocolate on my gown so I’m considering not having one at all. FYI, it comes as part of the reception menu but I can tell the caterers to skip it and use the money for something else. PLEASE HELP!!! By The Way, I attached pics of my dream gown so you can see why I’m worried about it.

This is a no-brainer. Everyone loves chocolate! 🙂 And I bet the chocolate won’t be near you at all; unless you go hugging everyone during chocolate time. People will be careful though 🙂

As much as I love chocolate I say no for the reason you mentioned your dress and other people’s clothes. We had one at a work event and my lasting memory of it is a guy in a tux with chocolate all down his shirt.

Someone posted about this on here before and others said that their chocolate fountains weren’t well accepted because people were worried about getting messy/maybe being the first one over there/ busy being social, what have you. I think chocolate fountains are great but maybe not at a wedding. Put the money towards another yummy dessert option!

I voted no because you seem very hesitant about it and I think you should go with your gut.
I’ve only had one experience with a chocolate fountain at a wedding and I found it unneccessary. After cocktail hour, the full sit down meal, and wedding cake I had barely any desire to use the chocolate fountain (and I am in LOVE with chocolate. If I could marry it, I would.) I was so full from everything else that I could barely eat another bite! I did, however, find room for a few pieces 😉

I’ve never been a fan of chocolate fountains. The chocolate is never good! I would rather have fruit pre-dipped in quality chocolate.

I think people would be careful around you and your dress, but I vote no for a different reason. The last wedding I went to had a chocolate fountain and from my perspective it was not worth it. Everyone was so stuffed from cocktail hour, dinner, and then cake, that it was barely touched. I loooove chocolate and I could barely bring myself to eat one piece. I say use the money elsewhere unless you and your Fiance are super enthused about it.

I say no for the reason is I dont (and many I know) like the chocolate they use. They have to add oil to make it run like that. It tastes like wax.

Pick another dessert option. Chocolate fountains are messy and after running for some time and as the chocolae depletes they can get all sorts of clogged/empt and don’t look nice. If you are inviting children this is a no brainer for the sake of your dress. Also, I think most people have seen/experienced a chocolate fountain so the novelty is gone and you could find something more delicious without the mess.

Honestly, I’m not a fan because the whole “everyone else’s food has been in this chocolate” thing grosses me out. I’d rather get a small piece of chocolate all to myself. Lol. Plus the messiness is just not worth it to me, so I say “No.”

I can’t even eat chocolate and I’d say yes. Everybody always loves a chocolate fountain, and I’m sure they’d know better to go anywhere near your dress with it.

The likelihood of people flinging chocolate around is slim to none. Everyone will be super careful because they too are dressed up. I understand being nervous about it – but you are in no greater danger than anything else spilling on your dress (like red wine).

I am with you. It kind of grosses me out lol.

I’d say no. I think chocolate fountains were a big trend that are kind of over (yesterday’s chocolate fountain is today’s candy bar type thing). Beyond that I do think they’re kind of messy and if you have kids coming that will only increase the problem. Plus I always worry about if they are sanitary.

We are doing a chocolate fountain mostly because of popular request. I have had so many of our guests request that we get a chocolate fountain. I am pretty neutral on them, but I agree that I have had nightmares about it getting on my dress. I am just going to stay far, far away from it throughout the night. LOL!
