I love Mars bars.
Anything dark, and the darker the better! With sea salt, preferably.
Also, almond roca!
Anything that combines milk chocolate with caramel is a winner in my book. That and my mom’s peanutbutter-filled chocolate eggs – I use the same recipe, but hers just seem better somehow.
There is a little local chocolate company in Canton, Ohio, called Heggy’s. Each piece is hand wrapped by a rotund little old lady. With love. It’s amazing. When I was a little kid, it was only for major celebrations that we could afford to splurge – my dad worked in Canton at the time and would bring home some Heggy’s chocolate covered marshmellows when the day had cause for excessive shows of joy. I thought nothing of it – it wasn’t until I moved away that I found out they were a local thing. Now that I’m back in the area, it is still the place I go when I need extra-special occasion chocolate. Yes, part of the bliss of it is sentiment. But it’s still some excellent chocolate, and it supports a small local business. They sell online now. But there’s nothing like getting it fresh. Mmmm, fresh chocolate.
Well, I know where I’m going after work now. Some Heggy’s will celebrate the end of this election cycle properly.
Anything milk chocolate with more than 30% cocoa solids… And Cadbury’s Wispa from the fridge.
