I need so help picking my engagement ring center stone. I am buying the stone from a jewler in LA diamond district, but I do not live close enough to go see them in person. They are both the same size and cut ( 1.50 ct. Radiant). Please also tell me why you picked the stone you did.
Thanks in advance for your help!

@leinasmom: i like the color of the first one!

I vote the first one, I don’t like how in the second one the outer most edges look clear/white while the rest is yellow. I like the consistency of the first one better 🙂

The first stone is gorgeous!

Wow.. you Bees fly fast!! Thanks so much for your advice. I am so lost and it makes it harder to not be near. I am thinking of flying down to see them in person prior to having it set.

Prefer the color and shape of the first one.

I agree with previous posts, definitely the first one. The color is much more consistent throughtout the stone. It’s much nicer.

no doubt number 1 based on the photos. However could just be the light and angle that makes the second appear inconsistently colored and less vibrant.

@leinasmom: ooooooooh I love radiant! What is the specs? Color and clairity?

@ Future_Mrs_D_I.. I inboxed you.. The specs that I know by heart are 1.5ct color is fancy yellow and clarity is SI1. It will be in a setting with 2.0 ct VS1/G side stone.. I am thinking a halo with a split shank..but I am all over the place..trying to find a ring that has 2.0ct and a halo to base my wishes off of. Then my band will match and have 0.75ct VS1/G side stones.
Thanks for all of your input..

i worked for a diamond supplier for six months. I like the first cushion because the radiant demonstrates light leakage and windowing (and green tint possibly fluorescence). Issue is diamond dealers don’t care about light performance, they sell yellow fancies with a cup under the diamond in the ring to make it more intense. I hate that it cannot be cleaned or steamed from that point on and becomes dull and lifeless over time. Be sure your jeweler at least opens a hole under the basket to let in light and for maintanance over time.

Atleast from the pictures the first one appears to have less visible inclusions, better color and saturation and as another poster mentioned the second looks to have a questionable cut with alot of leakage.

What do you think of the 1st diamond in a halo with rose gold and white gold band with diamonds? And a rose gold band with diamonds to match?
Or a white gold halo with rose gold accents on the side of the split shank and a rose gold diamond band?
