I’m stumped on choosing a domain for my wedsite. For the longest time, I was thinking about having it be just our last names, with no “and” or dash in between. It seems like a more practical option, especially since I could use the domain after we marry for an e-mail address.
What’s giving me pause is that both of our last names are tricky to spell, and it’s probably a good idea to make the URL easy for our guests to type. Also, there are privacy concerns, but the domain would point to a password-protected site on WeddingWire.
Having the first names with “and” in between is popular, but the reason why I’m not so sure about doing that is because my first name ends with an A, and I think the two A’s running together look odd (and may also prove to make it difficult for our guests to type – they may just put in one A). What do you think?
I can’t put his name first, because that .com domain is already taken, and I definitely want a .com. Also, please don’t suggest I use a nickname, because I really don’t have one.
I suppose we can do a dash separating our first names – but again, how user-friendly is it? And I don’t like having our first names running together (but I put it down as a poll option anyway).
(The reason why I used Jolie and Pitt as my example is because they were the first celebrity couple that came to mind where the woman’s name ends in an A. Of course, our last names aren’t as easy to spell as theirs!)
So, to recap, the options are:
- Our last names running together
- Our first names separated by “and”
- Our first names running together
- Our first names separated by a dash
What say you?
