When choosing your song for the Father-Daughter Dance did you choose? or did your Dad?
I know (I hope) my Dad will choose a great song! (He chose his and my Mom’s first dance song as well) But I just want to make sure that I’m going about this correctly!

missnicolemcg: I picked out a few different songs I liked and then gave my dad that list and asked which of those he wanted to use. My sil got married in May and her now husband let his mom choose the song. Me & my Fiance both picked our songs for parent dances though.

I chose it! And when I told him, he was really excited. I think he would’ve picked the same song too. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way, as long as you both love it. We used “In My Life” by The Beatles.

I chose my father/daughter dance song only because the song my father wanted to dance to was the same song he danced with my sister to and I didn’t feel right about that. I felt like that song should be special to her wedding. I found Edwin McCain’s “Walk With You” and it brought a tear to my eye. I had my dad listen to it and he loved it!

I am choosing it, as my father passed when I was 17. He probably would of chose similar though. I have his baby brother who’s only a few years older than me dancing with me. We’re doing Tim McGraws My Little Girl, then cutting it on about half way into You Should Be Dancing by the Bee Gees. My dad loved disco and I grew up dancing and singing with him.

I let my dad pick – he ended up doing a mash-up, and I was suprised but loved. For me, it was extra meaningful that he took the time to pick a song(s) that he thought were meaningful… the words were gorgeous. I can uderstand though not wanting it to be a complete surprise, in case you don’t like the songs… in my case, I knew he would run his ideas by my mom and she would make sure it was a good choice 🙂

I chose it, and actually chose it for both the father/daught and mother/son as we did them at the same time. I also picked “In My Life” by The Beatles, as I thought it was a great song for us all to dance to. Plus, my dad (as well as myself and DH) love The Beatles. And it was short, ha.
