Yeah trying to find almost every vendor in NYC is frustrating, but take a breath it will work out. What’s your budget for photography? Did you try contacting your favorite photographers and seeing what they can do just for a couple of hours instead of a full day?

I know how you feel.  The one I’m in love with is booked.  ๐Ÿ™

I don’t know if I’m too critical or what but this has been such a hard decision…

ooh we have the same style aesthetic! I actually follow Caroline Frost on facebook for inspiration. I was having trouble finding NYC photographers that shoot in this natural, light & airy romantic style so I was actually looking into California/Midwestern/Southern photogs and actually found a couple based in FL who were so excited to shoot in NYC that they offered me their normal package and waived all travel fees!

In general, you get what you pay for (experience, artistic style) so I think 5K is probably a good estimate. Some other people I looked at similar to Caroline were Mademoiselle Fiona (who has shot with Caroline before), Style Art Life, and Lindsay Madden. Sometimes you can negotiate a lower price for less hours of wedding photogaphy. I think if you do that, you can probably get away with about 3K. talk to the photographers and be up front about your budget + your “must haves” and see if they can work something out. I’ve had people tell me it’s not doable, but I’ve also had people be able to meet all my criteria. Good luck!

Hi yes! I’m going with 1313 Photography http://www.1313blog.com/ I found them on Style Me Pretty and on a whim reached out to them and they have been fabulous! Their prices are not cheap though but because photography was one of my biggest priorities, the budget I allotted was higher. I think they might be closer to that of Caroline Frost (around 5K+) but I feel like for what I’m getting (engagement shoot, unlimited wedding photography, custom album, 3 photographers, and rehearsal dinner shoot) it was great bang for the buck!

Here’s my engagement photoshoot back in last May http://www.1313blog.com/2012/10/shelly-bryans-new-york-engagement-session/

I’ve read too many posts from brides who either 1. said their photographers were cheap and said the photos were great BUT when I looked at their websites the photos were cheesy and average…….

2. I’ve read too many posts where others complained about their photographers missing moments and getting out of focus blurry shots or under exposed pictures and why do you think it tunrs out they hired those photographers in the first place? Yup, cuz they were cheap so go figure…….

3. If it’s important to you then make a way to afford it because from what I’ve seen it’s not worth it saving a little today In My Humble Opinion.

@multinational:  check out Paul Francis Photography. He and his wife are a team based in NJ, but will travel to NY. We booked him for our wedding since I love the same kind of romantic and soft style you are searching for. His work has been published on Style Me Pretty and other well known wedding blogs. Fiance and I wanted to splurge on photography as well because it is important to us. For your budget of $5,000 he can definitely work with you. We booked him for $6K because we need him for additional hours and upgraded our album size. They are also SUPER nice and responsive! PM me for more details/info if you need!

Check out Anna Rozenblat. She lives in Brooklyn and her prices start at just under $2,000. We’ve already had our engagement photos with her, and are very much looking forward to the wedding.

For $1,900, you get 8 hours, 200 retouched photos and all others, I really think she is a steal. Then there are add-ons, engagement session for us was $300, add a second shooter for $200, etc. All very reasonable.

We love our photos and are very happy with other weddings she has posted in the last year. Her site is annasweddings.com
