Hi Subola! My fiance and I are having our wedding at the Franklin Plaza in August of 2013! We decided to have our ceremony there as well so that guests wouldn’t have to travel. I loved the romantic feel of the ceremony set up, so it made the decision even easier! Plus, there is a hotel located directly across the street, so transportation is even less of a concern! Although we’re still early in the planning process, Joe and the rest of the FP staff have been extremely helpful so far!

We also looked at many of the same venues you mentioned before deciding on Franklin Plaza, so if you have any specific questions regarding the Franklin Plaza or the other venues, feel free to ask!

Congratulations! The Franklin Plaza is beautiful! Mrs. Coyote http://www.weddingbee.com/author/coyote/ just got married there, in case you haven’t seen her pictures. They’re beautiful!

I’m glad you dind’t go with the Desmond, I have to be honest. I love the building, when you can find your way around, but they are some horrible people to work with. I’m in the hotel business, and even on a professional level, they treat you like garbage! I think they’ve never heard of professional courtesy!

Sorry, that was my little rant. Anyway, congratulatons again!!

@subola:  Congrats on booking your venue!! I may be biased, but I think you picked a good one! Wink It must be tough planning a wedding from so far away!! Let me know if you have any questions about anything local!

@subola:  Plum and ivory would look gorgeous with their decor! I’m considering tying my color (midnight blue) into the room with the table linens/a table runner/bows on the chairs/something to that effect. I’m still unsure about a second color, but I’m thinking about using ivory and rose colored flowers for the girls’ bouquets which I will probably place as decorations during the reception.  We’re having and evening wedding and will be using lots of candles and taking advantage of their candelabras for our decorations, so I’m hoping that will be enough to lighten everything up while still tying everything together. The room is so beautifully decorated as it is, so I’m sure anything you do will look lovely!

@subola:  I didn’t go to Sage, but close! I went to the Albany College of Pharmacy, so we’re neighbors!! : ) And I’m also curious about bakeries if anyone has any suggestions! I’ve heard good things about Coccadotts and Villa Italia, but I don’t have any personal experience working with either of them…

@subola:  I agree, I think Cocadotts is a little overrated honestly. Never had Sam’s club cake but I will take your word for it 🙂  Have you booked any other vendors yet? I grew up in the area and my brother is a photographer there. My recommendations: photography – Photographics Solution (http://www.facebook.com/photographicssolution), DJ – Piano Man, Florist – Rosery Flower Shop

Happy planning! Franklin Plaza is very nice! My oldest bro almost had his wedding there but ended up at Malozzi’s instead.
