Hi bees! I’ve finally asked 4 of my closest girl friends to be Bridesmaid or Best Man for my March 2016 wedding. A few have started looking at dresses just for fun, as I did advise them that the color would be coral. I decided to let each Bridesmaid or Best Man pick their own style as long as it’s a coral dress (will probably use the same store for everyone so we don’t have any color issues). Now, what is the proper way to go about this — should I pick out a handful of styles from Alfred Angelo or Davids (I’ll probably end up using 1 of the two), or should I just say pick out a short, coral dress at one of the stores and see what they decide on?
What have you ladies done that have had BM’s wear their own style?

If you are ok with some variation in the shade of coral, you can simply let them loose to buy a short coral dress.
If you want more control, you can tell them the length, color, fabric and designer and let them take it from there.

Mine all got matching dresses, so I can’t comment exactly on mismatched ones, but are your girls all in the same area? If so, don’t neglect bridal salons – I found several Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses I liked that were the same price as ones I liked from DB and AA! If they are all over the country, then those could be a good choice since they’re national chains, especially if you want them to wear actual bridesmaids dresses.

As nice as that first pic looks, I think I want something a little more uniform, and I actually have that 2nd picture pinned on a pinterest board hehe
I have 2 local, 2 out of state, so that’s why I was probably going to do a big name store as I know they have them where the out of state girls live.
What I will probably do is pick like TEN styles I personally like. That should give people enough options to choose from. The reason I’m letting them choose their own style is because all my girls have very different body shapes from plus size to super itty bitty and in between. I just don’t want them to feel restricted if I don’t pick any styles that they like, but I know there really are some styles that i DON’T like that I would rather not have anyone wear. I mean I’m probably totally overthinking this as I don’t have a huge bridal party and everyone is pretty agreeable.

I don’t think there is a right or a wrong way. Its really just what works for you and what you like. For mine I picked the store (davids), material, and length. I am doing several shades of pink (blush to fuschia) and they can pick their own color and dress from there. I will be going shopping with some of them for fun, but this way its easy for my out of towners.

If you have plus size BM’s make sure you choose a designer that gives a variety of choices for plus size women, not just the one token plus size style.
