@Pupperoni: I think it really depends on the venue. Are you doing outdoor/indoor?

All outdoor? All indoor? How fancy is the country club?

I’m having my wedding at a yacht club, but it’s a “rustic” one room yacht club, not a fancy beach club. Also Fiance and I are more casual people so black tie just doesn’t fit for us.

If you are having a wedding at a nice beach club, black tie optional would be fine. The only thing that might look strange is if you are having a beach ceremony, but if it is what you want and what fits your personalities, go for it!

@KatNYC2011: I actually went to a wedding on the beach this summer that was black tie 🙂 So they do exist!

@Pupperoni: I think that if you want to do formal/black tie, you definitely can. If you were doing like a backyard bbq wedding, that might be a different story. But at a country club, definitely.

@Pupperoni: Oops sorry! Misread it. Black tie at a country club would be perfectly acceptable (and beautiful).

@hilsy85: Oh I’m sure it’s done, and I’m sure it’s great because it truly represents the couple. I would feel weird doing it, but if I saw someone else do it, I’m sure it’d work great as it is their wedding.
