@Sibiohan:

Nothing’s guaranteed unless I’m willing to pay 10K for it!

I would really like to try this for at least one girl 🙂  Of course I agree that healthy baby is best, but I really really want a little girl and DH really wants a boy!

@regberadaisy:  Exactly! And i’d rather spend 10K on looking after the child and any siblings!

Fiance and I have talked about trying the shettles method- with no great effort or disapointment of course. If it works then great, if not that’s great too so long as we can actually have kids I’m happy.

We just really want little girls. I wouldn’t be upset if I had a boy of course, but if I only had girls I wouldn’t be tempted to try for a boy either. I think it’s because I grew up around mostly girls so that’s just what I’m used to. Healthy babies are what we’re really after though!

I think I am going to try the timing tricks the first few months of TTC to try for a girl….but if it doesn’t work oh well!

There’s a forum of batshit crazy women who take it way too far with DIY gender selection. They like, build their own centrifuges and incubators and stuff to try to separate their husbands’ x and y sperm so they can “inseminate” themselves with the desired sperm. One of the craziest things I’ve seen on the Internet.

Edit: dammit, the forum of crazy ladies no longer exists 🙁

We might try the different days / positions just for fun but really wouldn’t expect it to make much of a difference.  None of them are proven to actually do anything.

@ThingsThatShine:  Omg that’s crazy!!!  I’ve seen msg boards about trying things like altering your diet, etc…. but not inseminating yourself lol

We tried for a boy and we got a boy- I did 5 of the 7 steps- it worked for us!

When we first started trying, I really wanted a boy (but didn’t try any of the methods). Nine cycles later, we would honestly give anything for a healthy baby of either gender!
