I saw your title and just *knew* this was what you were talking about. I saw this for the first time at a wedding last weekend and thought it was awesome! I wish I had known about it for my wedding- I would have prefered this over our unity candle!
The display I saw was beautiful!! i would have totally rather done thIs!!
What happens if the bride is strong and the groom is creative?
@supersleuth – they could reverse the reading to match the couple?
@ meant2be – you’re welcome!!! I’d love to see pics if y’all end up doing this!
How do you incorporate it into the ceremony? I assume you aren’t building it at the alter. Is it just part of the decor that’s referenced at some point?
Thats what we’re doing. Got it at Hobby Lobby 40% off!!!! I hated teh unity candle or the sand blending. I didnt want to do anything like that till I found this 🙂
@Jamieg: I love this what a way to show both your love eachother and your faith for Christ Amazing showing this to my Hubby for are 7 year vow renewal the first time around we did a Justice of the Peace type thingy but this time we are doing a christian service and reception to follow 🙂 thanks for the idea 🙂
@honorarynerd – supposedly the preacher, or priest is supposed to lead the building of the alter at the cross.
@futuremrsbol- I’m shocked they have them at hobby lobby! Gotta love the 40%off!!
@alexa – I know, me neither!! I wish I had seen this before my wedding.
@mrstattoo – surely!!
Sorry to snark, but I have to ask — Does it irk anyone that the corresponding reading makes such a distinction between the man and the woman in the marriage? The attributes the verses respectively describe could be equally applicable to wives or to husbands.
oh that is creative… we ended up doing the cord of three strands, which was done before our vows began and it set the tone for what God expected in marriage.
@sweetbee29: We did this! It was so amazing and we now have it displayed in out living room! This is ours!
@HonoraryNerd: No, you do build it. The nails hold the middle and outer cross together. It’s just like lighting a candle, filling a jar with sand, or braiding 3 cords together for the unity section. It is very fast to build, probably faster than braiding the 3 cords.
