My husband wanted to buy “God Calling” because his parents read it. I haven’t read it though.

My fiance and I are in love with the movie fireproof, I know you wrote this blog a while back but maybe something you might want to try at somepoint if the fireproof devotionals for couples. It’s a great book that we actually purchased and it’s so helpful in just remembering the little things that as spouses we sometimes forget. I’d try it, there is one for married couples and one for engaged couples.

One my pastor suggested and was really good was “The 5 Love Languages”.

I second The 5 Love Languages. It is not a true devotional but if you both read it and discuss it, it will do wonders for your relationship. There is a matching journal as well that you could complete together.

Oh, yes. I know couples who have used the Five Love Languages, too. 🙂

I have also done the 5 Love languages… it was a great book not only does it help you learn about your partner but you learn more about yourself through this book too!

We read through Love and Respect while going through pre-marital counseling and really enjoyed it. I’d also recommend Sheet Music. It’s mostly about sex within marriage, but we’ve found it to be really helpful.

@caiters_marie: Interesting options! I’ll have to look into those more.

I just started reading Things I Wish I’d Known Before We Got Married by Gary Chapman. It is for people who are already married or even for people who are dating… He talks a lot about the 1st year of marriage so I think it would be perfect for you. The chapters are short and there are about 3 questions at the end of every chapter.

I’m all for Family Life Today….FamilyLife.com

They send out daily emails that are amazing, and the website has great resources for anything you can think of. They also tie everything together with weekend getaways, video seminars with a local church, and even a cruise. They have great, Biblically sound, advice and have helped me through a lot.

My Fiance and I just started Quiet Times for Couples by N. Norman Wright. It’s a one year devotional written with married couples in mind, but we’ve found it really helpful so far. We’re only 17 days into it, but it has so many great ideas and thoughts and it’s started several conversations between the two of us. Each day is only one page, and there are usually a few questions throughout the reading. It’s very biblically based, but very applicable. Even though we’re not very far into it, I would highly recommend it! I can’t wait to do it again after we’ve been married for a year or so!
