Try http://www.themarriagebed.org- they have a great section for engaged couples which I found really handy when the hubs and I were engaged.

My pastor (non-denominational) has a saying : “before marriage, no, after marriage, go!, ” which he says basically means after you are married you can do absolutaly anything you want. That’s how I feel, as well.

You know what’s absolutely hilarious?  Hearing your staid, very old-school, hell-fire-and-damnation Baptist preacher saying (from the pulpit) that if married couples want to play Tarzan and Jane – with Tarzan hanging from the chandelier in a loincloth – that that was great!  He even went on to say that those were the most fortunate grooms in the world.

Couldn’t stop laughing over that for months, especially since *my* first thought was that those were the most fortunate BRIDES!

My Christian religion has always taught that you have sex in order to procreate, not just for fun. So you should never use birth control, you should never try to ‘beat your cycle’ by counting and only having sex when you aren’t fertile, since you should only be having sex in order to get pregnant. Really, timing sex so that you couldn’t possibly get pregnant, I think it is the rythem method, is just as immoral to God as taking a birth control pill. The whole point of people, in my bible, is to go forth and procreate so to have sex without actually trying to procreate is wrong for me. That includes any kind of sex where sperm is blocked from you like with a condom or withdraw or oral sex since you are basically throwing God’s seed away.

sure anything goes, but you will someday have to kiss your kids with the same mouth and what will your husband be thinking? thats the point my man brought up to me…

as long as it’s with each other and only each other, and it’s all done with love… it’s all good.

and you used oral sex as an example question. in Song of Solomon there are beautiful and loving descriptions of sex and also of oral sex… there are mentions of tasting, eating, and drinking of the other’s body.

@rosworms that’s so AWESOME!!! God’s so great, how He really hits on EVERYTHING… can I ask for the scripture.. I’d love to read more on that =)

plus just to add on that from my own knowledge… if a woman is more likely to orgasm from oral stimulation and orgasm PROMOTES conception b/c of uteruen contraction that helps “suck up sperm” then why wouldn’t it just be part of the whole intimacy process?….. 😉

back to.. if swinging from the chandeliers is good with you and your hubby then just DO IT! tehe

Wow, This thread is interesting for me to read, as we all have such varied views on so many things. I grew up as a protestant and was forced to go to church until age 9. Now I consider myself an atheist so to me, sex and god are completely unrelated. My Fiance grew up Catholic and did all of the church things like first communion and confirmation. He does not attend church but believes in god. We have never talked much about religion but since we got engaged he brought it up. He informed me that the act of marriage is supposed to be a religious thing. When I told him I disagreed, he was like, “well what do you think it is, a legal thing? I responded yes, but also for love. I just find it so fascinating that we all have such varied views on the same thing. I guess we are lucky to live in such a great country where we are free!
