Fairly new around here.. so HI! I have my Save-The-Date Cards all ready to go! However, my mom thought it would be a better idea to wait until the “holiday madness” calms down before I send them. Our wedding is on Aug 4th and a couple hour drive out of town for most people!
What do you think?

I plan on mailing my Save-The-Date Cards out this weekend. I can’t help that it falls around Christmas time. And I think people will be happy to get it. I’m doing this instead of christmas cards this year. Some think that’s cheap… I say it’s thrifty
I just finished my last final yesterday, so I didn’t have time to send them before either.

I would wait until after the holidays personally. I agree with your mom, that it might get lost in all the holiday shuffle. It’s only a matter of 2 or 3 weeks really, so it doesn’t make much of a difference.

Personally I would wait until after Christmas.

I think either way you are good. Yes, there is a lot of holiday mail that goes out, but it also means that people are paying closer attention.
I would probably send it out mid-January, that still gives you plenty of time.
Oh – there is also going to be a stamp price increase, so unless you have forever stamps, send them out before then!

Thanks for the help! I forgot about the stamp increase! I will definately have to get them out before that.
I am just soo excited to send them I want to do it now! Maybe I will put them in the mail around the 24th, so they arrive just before new years when things have calmed down a bit? haha I can’t wait!

i sent mine out early to avoid the holiday shuffle. I like your idea of sending on the 24th.

We sent ours out with our Christmas cards. I figure people pay closer attention to their mail at this time of year, and it saved us from sending stuff out twice. Thrifty, yes!

I would wait. Personally, we sent out postcards in October, and I know that some of them were never delivered. I would be nervous sending postcards out at this time of year because I think they would be even more likely to get lost in the mail.

I plan on sending mine out Jan 5th. I figure most holiday mail should be out of the system by then.
If I were you I would send it out now, over a week before Christmas or after New Years. New Years mail is crazy too.

I would wait until closer to the New Year. You can purchase some Forever Stamps now (post office is selling cute ones until end of year) and send out first week in January. Our Save the Dates will be ready around Christmas, but we won’t be sending out until early January to make sure all the hustle and bustle is cleared up a little.

I just got two Save-The-Date Cards in the mail within the past week, they combined it with their Christmas cards.

I am popping mine inside the christmas cards , and posting them tomorrow.

I have my Save-The-Date Cards all ready to go but figured they would make more of an impact if they came after the holiday rush. People who travel will return to piles of mail to sort through, other people will have lots of Christmas cards. So I’m planning on sending them out around Jan. 5.

I was having the same debate about whether to send them. I was trying to get them in the mail before Thanksgiving, but I just couldn’t finish them in time. I sent them out last week and it’s worked out great. I think people are in a good mood because of the holidays and love hearing good news. Also, since we’ll see a lot of people in person over the holidays, we’d probably end up talking about the date (since we hadn’t told them before)- so I thought it would be more fun for them to get the card first.
If you feel like sending them out- go ahead!
