@Billsgirl:  I only get a $10 tims card if Im lucky..so I feel your pain lol. The upside to the tims card though is that I wont have to pay for coffee for a couple days lol.

Sometimes its more insulting to give something like that than nothing at all. I would have preferred nothing. $12.50 per doctor, I mean really?

@Billsgirl:  Wow, gotta say, that is a pretty low amount given that they are doctors. But maybe the practice isn’t going well?!?!? I don’t get a christmas bonus (though we had a really nice christmas party). So $25 is definitely better than nothing! Perhaps it was more of a christmas gift, rather than a bonus.

How many employees are in your office? If there are a lot of people, that can add up pretty fast. So $12.50 per person could be fairly generous if there are 10-20 people.

I manage a team of 7 people. I am not the “big boss” but I am the Director of a department. Money is a bit tight right now because we are about to put a down payment on a house. So for a holiday gift, I baked each person a dozen cookies and bought cute containers for them. I spent about $4 a person (so a little under $30 total). Hopefully that doesn’t seem cheap! I make good money, but not a ton (no where near a doctor’s salary).

Well it could be worse… our Christmas celebration was that we all went out for lunch, but they didn’t pay for it, so actually we just all went out and bought our own lunches together. We actually lost money since we couldn’t just pack a lunch that day 😛 Then they handed out little christmas packages that were a mug from the dollar store, a candy cane, two candies, and a packet of carnation instant hot chocolate. I actually appreciated that though since I know they were put together by a coworker who is determined that there be at least a little Christmas joy in the office. The joys of working for government!

@Billsgirl:  we don’t get bonuses, it’s against the rules since we are government. But I would feel exactly how you do if I had recieved such a “bonus”.

Is it really a “bonus” or a gift? haha. That sounds like a gift, a lame one yeah. I always considered a bonus more money, not a gift card. Did they say “here’s your xmas bonus!”??

@Billsgirl:  That’s disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves. If they could not afford bonuses then they should not have given any at all. I got $200 cold hard cash and my Fiance got $300.

@Billsgirl:  That’s not so bad- one year each employee at my office got a whopping $5 off lunch as a bonus!
