What about a cashmere throw?  They have some beautiful ones on ideeli, gilt, and other web sites like that.

Does she like to read? A nook (or some e-book thing) might be nice. Does she cook much? What about a new mixer or a George Formane grill?

Or since you don’t seem excited about the sheets, what about some throw pillows and maybe a blanket for her living room? Or what about a Christmas-y tablecloth with napkins?

What about an experience of some kind?  Buy her a spa package and tell her it will be girl time for just the two of you, and then take her yourself.  If she’s on the larger side . . .. then don’t get her a massage, but get her a mani & pedi or something like that.

Also . . . if she has lots of stuff, maybe getting her an “experience” that you can do with her will be better.  sometimes groupon and living social have interesting “experiences” at decent prices.  I haven’t always been pleased with groupon’s quality, so you have to check out the think they are selling for yourself – but, for example, they sometimes have hot air balloon trips, or learn to surf experiences, master cooking classes, art, etc.

So basically, she loves to smell good and wear lots of nice jewelry in the house?! Hmm. Maybe you could get her a new shower head for her shower. My Darling Husband bought us a pretty pricey one the other day. I almost shot him when I saw the receipt…but after taking my first shower using it…AMAZING!

You could always buy her something that may strike her interest, but encourages her to not be a hermit. Good luck!!!! MIL’s are difficult…I’m having issues with the gift buying too Undecided

In the past I’ve gotten mine pearl earrings (she hated them though), a big cuff bracelet, gift certs for getting her hair done, manicure gift certs, books, nice PJ sets, a kindle…what about a nice top and piece of jewlery to go with it? You could do like a cashmere cardigan or something..nice scarf? Nicer bag? a Keurig? I don’t know haha I’m just thinking of things mine likes

We’re doing a “relax” kit. A nice candle, blanket or robe, tea, slippers… in a basket.

Perhaps sheets and some nice accessories, like a pretty cashmere throw or some candles (maybe the LED flickery kind?)

Is it cold where they are? maybe cashmere scarf & gloves in a nice color.

My SO went searching through my FMIL’s house– top to bottom, and found a few things that she might need replaced, enjoy, etc. We came up with pans (hers are scratched, and the non-stick doesn’t work anymore), new slippers, a steam cleaner, some scrapbooking items (like a cricut) and a digital picture frame. Not that we are buying all of that, but they were ideas we had 🙂 For my parents we got them a few books, a tassimo cup holder, slippers, and a gift card for the Keg.
