Looking for ideas for a Christmas gift for my sister’s boyfriend. He’ll be joining our family this year, but I don’t know him all that well! I’m in my late 20s but he just turned 40, so I can’t really ask my fiance for ideas. I do know that typical “guy gifts” (beer/wine or other drinking things, tools, grilling tools…) not so much him. He also has a dog he loveeesss. but, that’s about it!! I’m not sure of his “fav things” and was hoping to surprise him this year, so I don’t want to ask my sister what he wants. That will also prevent her from telling him, and him then feeling obligated to get me something. Anyone have any ideas??

Ask your Fiance for guy ideas. Just because you are in your late 20s (assuming your Fiance is also) and Future Brother-In-Law is 40, it doesn’t mean your Fiance won’t have helpful ideas.

That’s nice of you! 🙂 Hmm what about something edible ? Does he like sweets ? Or maybe ties if he wears them. Or a blanket with his pets face on it ? 😛 . I’m sure anything you get him he will appreciate !

This might be too young of an idea, but I usually find out if my sisters BFs like a certain sports team and get them a t-shirt or sweatshirt. You can usually get one for a good price, but my sisters tend to not keep the same guy around too long (but for some reason bring every boyfriend the have ever had to Christmas) so I tend to get a quick and cheap present:)

@shorebride105: How about a gift certificate to a restaurant they both enjoy, and some small dog toys/biscuits for his stocking to give to his dog?

I think its time for a “joint” gift…. i don’t bother getting anything for my BIL’s girlfriend – So we’ll get them a joint gift like a restaurant or movie theater gift card. Easy , appreciated and works like a charm.
