We cannot think of a good Christmas gift for my husband’s dad. He’s a Southern Baptist preacher without any hobbies. He just really likes Ole Mis football, but we’ve already got him some team swag. I’ve reached out my Mother-In-Law asking for ideas and she hasn’t responded (been like 3 weeks.) What is a good run of the mill, dad gift for someone without a lot of personality or hobbies?

We’ve started doing couple gifts for my inlaws. They’re hard to shop for because they don’t have hobbies, but show/receive affection by giving gfifts so not giving a gift is out of the question. Have you tried doing a “date night” for them? Gift card for dinner and the movies, or a baskete with gournmet popcorn, a couple dvds, and chocolate?

Gift card to a favorite local restaurant? Books or movies? Does he like to grill, maybe a nice personalized set of grill utensils?

- Wedding: June 2016 - City, State
We got my husband’s dad an ipad recently and he loves it! My husband’s grandparents each have one and they really like it (easier to use than a computer).
Otherwise I’d suggest:
– food: depending on what he likes it could be chocolate, homemade jams, gift cards to restaurants, etc.
– memories related: a nice picture of the family framed or a photo album from a recent family event/holiday. One other thing i thought about doing for my husband’s grand parents is having some old family photos professionally scanned and maybe put into an online scrapbook photo album like shutterfly

What about something edible? Everyone likes food. Last year I got my father in law gourmet coffee he would have never bought himself. He loved it.

Last year I bought my dad a Yeti cup, equipped with a handle. He loves it so much he uses it everyday.
Does your Father-In-Law read any? What about a christian book? Or as ppm a kindle?
One gift I did for my Future Father-In-Law was had a custom picture frame made with their Last name and a little loving quote, then framed a picture of all the generations of the men and kids. It’s something that they really cherish since it has his father, himself, and his kids. Heart felt is away a winner!

We give my in-laws a calendar each each year (one for my Future Father-In-Law and one for my FMIL) as well as another gift for each of them. Calendars are always useful and I have seen some nice ones with Psalms and spiritual messages.
We are getting my dad a somewhat generic gift as well (that he asked for) – a wallet!

edobbs87 : gifts I’ve given my dad include:
-Selection of craft beers
-Tickets (opera; band/artist; comedian)
-Gift card to his favourite restaurant
I also like PPs idea of cooking/grilling utensils; another idea if he’s into DIY or gardening could be tools/gardening tools. And edible gifts are always good; you could make a hamper with his favourite foods and drinks for eg.
