every year to help with gift ideas, everyone in my family and DH’s family make a “wish list” that they send out to the entire family. now that we are expecting, our family would like us to make a “wish list” for the baby as well. this is our first baby, so i’m finding this to be somewhat challenging. so far our list consists of mostly books and swaddlers/swaddle blankets. any ideas as to what we should include? any must haves? anything you want for baby but wouldn’t put on a registry?

What do you already have for the baby? Have you had a baby shower already? What sort of price limit do you have?
My mother really liked having a baby swing because the motion kept us calm while she had “me time” (cleaning, reading, bathing, etc). I think one of those hands-free baby carriers would be handy too (at least it would be for me).

As silly as it is Savings Bonds. During the first few years of a child’s life there is always a surplus of toys, clothes, etc. We give Savings Bonds to all our nieces and nephews(with a few toys as they got older) on special occasions. They may not appreciate it now but when its time to go to college they will be grateful.

@ScottishMrs: good questions; that info is kind of important 🙂 i’ll be 14w tomorrow, so no baby showers yet. we literally have absolutely nothing for the baby. i don’t want to ask for anything more than $100; would ideally like to stick to things under $40.
