I just took advantage of Land’s End and their sales ($50 off $150 purchase, free shipping), for a bunch of family gifts (including FMIL). I’m a big fan of their tote bags and I think their medium sized ones are still on sale.

@jenter: LOVE the Lands End tote bag!  I got those as Christmas gifts 2 years ago for my family.

Since we just had our wedding in late October, things are tight for everyone.  I’m not spending a lot of money.  I think I might do a photo from the wedding for each set of parents.  They are getting a photo book but that’s their wedding gift from us.  And maybe get my mom and dad something they want…it’s so hard to decide but we’re keeping the spending on the low side.

Check out http://www.etsy.com as well.

I can’t wait to hear the responses!  We’re stuck on what to get my in-laws, so I’d love any ideas for them!

For the last couple years, we’ve went to a paint-your-own pottery place to make gifts. They’re expensive unless you catch a Groupon deal (which we always manage :)), and then they’re pretty cheap!

Sometimes we buy hard to buy for folks the live Christmas  wreaths from LL Bean.  THey are delivered to the house and smell great.

What about infused vodka or other alcohol?  We’ve given limoncello and house made coffee liquor in the past.

Bear Creek Smokehouse does nice Turkeys and Hams:

Homemade Vanilla extract along with some homemade goodies?:
