What are some recommendations for gifts for a 15 year old girl? My stepdaughter is your typical teenager and loves all things boys, clothes, shoes, makeup, hair. I have asked her what she wants but she always says “I don’t know.” Any cool gift ideas? I will be giving her money to buy some things for herself but I want to give her tangible gifts as well.

Sephora always has lots of cool Christmas packages. Just go in and look around!
I always loved money as a teen so I could choose my own gift.
Victoria’s Secret always has cute pajama sets, robes and jogging sets.
Everyone who has one of those clairasonics seems to swear by it.

lmnop1984: Mac make up brushes! Can’t go wrong with that. Or maybe a trip to a spa day with you, go get your nails done together? Bonding experience with you would be a nice gift.

redvelvette: thank you for your suggestions! I too loved (and continue to love) money for Christmas! I will definitely look into some Sephora gift sets since she loves makeup.

lmnop1984: Maybe it’s just me, but when I was 15 I wanted a car LOL I knew my license was right around the corner and I wanted something to drive when that happened! But, I had to buy my own 🙁
If a car isn’t in the budget (like most folks around here lol) then a gift card to Sephora or Amazon or even Etsy. They have cute stuff!
I saw on Pinterest a gift card tree; you could get a bunch of gift cards and then get crafty with it to make it something artsy?

I am giving my SO’s 14-year-old niece socks. Socks with odd sayings and funny logos and such on them… but she is a tomboy and goofy, so she appreciates that kind of stuff.

justinsgirl2016: she will be inheriting my car when she’s old enough and I will be getting a new car. That’s way in the future lol! Her driving skills definitely need to be improved (which is something we are currently working on). I love crafts so I will definitely look at the gift card tree!

Does she have hobbies? Teenage years is often when hobbies are lost and then as adults they regret it. If she has one try to buy something related to that. Or something you think she’ll enjoy, like a book.
If you can’t find anything more meaningful, I always enjoyed receiving nice makeup sets as a teen. When I was 15 I received a Chanel lip gloss set and thought it was the best gift ever.

lmnop1984: Do you know what kind of makeup or hair products she uses now? I find that, unless she is still experimenting, makeup and hair stuff is so personal that I wouldn’t buy it for someone else unless I knew that they would like it. I have super curly hair, so I can’t use just any old product in it and it always makes me feel bad when someone buys me a gift box of Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner and knowing I won’t really use it.
Gift cards are always an option: MAC, Sephora, Bath & Body Works. I second a good set of brushes. I have a set from Sephora and they are absolutely amazing. If you’re looking for a way to bond, maybe get her a couple of small things to open Christmas morning, but take her into MAC or Sephora after Christmas and have them test the products on her so she’ll know exactly what will look good on her. That may be something you also do with the giftcard. My mom did that with me several years ago–got me a gift card and then she and I went to MAC and basically had them test out different products on me until they found foundation, eye liner, mascara, and eye shadows that looked good on me and I used the gift card to purchase them! I still talk about that as one of the best gifts I received!
Also, just because I am an avid reader and a staunch advocate of books as gifts, you can’t go wrong with some books. Depending on what genre she’s into there are so many great books and series out right now. Amazong also has that feature that tells you what other books people bought or that they recommend based off of what you’re currently looking at. Like, if you’re looking at the Divergent series, Harry Potter, the Maze Runner, The Hunger Games, John Green, The Mortal Instruments are just some examples of other titles that come up, so you could buy her a whole series of books, for fairly cheap, that she could enjoy.

My first thought: Anything from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

lmnop1984: maybe a package for a spa day? If you guys get along well take her for a day at the spa, mani/pedis or do a bigger package – whatever’s in the budget.

I would say to get her a nice wallet to put her money in. Maybe a coach (from an outlet), or something like that. If there is not an outlet near you, you can sign up to receive e-mails from the couch outlet online, they only have sales every month or so, but they will tell you when the next one is on the website (after you sign up for e-mails) and they will e-mail you updates.

lmnop1984: a year subscription to an Ipsy glam bag… it’s $10 per month, the person who the stuff is for would take a quiz and answer what their style is, what type of skin they have, what type of hair, what color…etc. and what type of products you’re interested in & then, every month, they send you 5 products that would work for your hair and skin tone & type. (makeup, nail polish, lotions, hair products…etc) it ranges from high-end trendy cosmetics brands to brands i’ve never heard of, but all of the makeup and lotions and potions are very good quality. they come in a cute little makeup bag every month … free shipping, no signup fee but they do automatically bill your cc monthly. a gift that will keep on giving!
