We are exchanging gifts… or at least I’m giving him gifts. He has yet to do any of his Christmas shopping.

Technically? Yes. But we agreed that they had to be home-made-ish and less than 20 bucks. I made him a scrapbook on SeeHere.com of our past year together. It cost $8!

we’re exchanging gifts, but honestly? I could take it or leave it.

I don’t get the whole gift-giving thing about Christmas, really. Why is a gift somehow “worth” more because he gave it to me on December 25th?

I would be just as happy with the same gift if he chose to give it to me on a random day in July.

We are exchanging gifts but we will be spending much less than we normally do.  We bought a house last month so we are considering that our Christmas gift to each other : )  I got him some new power tools since he’s a big bad home owner now and he will probably just get me a gift certificate for a massage since that’s what I asked for.

We usually go crazy with gifts but this year we decided on a budget and that only one gift should be bought since we just got married the end of Oct and went on our honeymoon. We still wanted to have something to exchange and open Christmas morning!

We are not exchanging gifts. The last two months have been super hard on us. I wish we had extra money to spend.

@DCSquared: Best part is we leave on Saturday morning to drive to his mom’s house in Maine for the week.

So either he gets on amazon and has stuff shipped to her, or we’re all getting something from “backwoods outdoor world” or whatever is in the neighborhood up there that’s open in the middle of winter!

@DCSquared: We have friends flying into town so we got a hotel room in Atlantic City, bought tickets to a comedy show and made reservations at a REALLY nice steakhouse. That plus drinks and gambling should add up to what we typically spend on eachother.

@DCSquared: LOL. I’m not religious, thanks. And don’t get me started on the whole issue of Jesus’ “birthday”.

He was born in either March or April. NOT december. Not even close. Christianity adopted the date because it already had significant meaning to “pagan” religions! In fact, the whole of Christianity is based on their own holiday adaptions taken from older religions that were practiced widely at the time. Pfft.
