I would need to know more about the type of ornament you are considering.

Most houshold Christmas ornaments would be way too small.

I agree with pp, christmas ornaments seem small to hang from ceiling.  Have you considered balloons?  You can buy round balloons, instead of the usual oval shape, and you can buy little lights to put inside them for pretty cheap.

I have used balloominators inside balloons for decor at many events. Because you want the balloons to hang from the ceiling, you would have to hang them on long strings or lengths of fishing wire so that someone could turn on the balloominators then raise the balloons up to your desired level.

@MrsN2Be:  I have those for our August tent reception, and was about to suggest them! They’re the whirly candleholders (they can also hold flowers or greenery) from CB2 found here for $4.95 each.

OP, I think the Christmas decorations will get a bit lost in the space, and honestly, I think nothing but “Christmas” when I see those photos. I had the same idea as you earlier, but nixed it when I just couldn’t get past the fact that it reminded me of Christmas. Perhaps those whirly candleholders with votives or flowers in your colors?
