Squeeeeee! (Yes, this made me squee!) It would be hard NOT to think it was a Christmas proposal. But I udnerstand not wanting to get your hopes up. Do you think he would have asked your parents before hand? If so, maybe you can judge your mom’s reaction after discussing logistics with her?

Either way … proposal or present… it is still exciting! Good luck!

So wait … he IS going to propose, just not with the ring you were wanting? 🙁

@jpalm13: If you feel it isn’t too mean, maybe re-emphasise the thing about no ring except for engagement to him. See how he takes it – he may be able to cancel his order. Also, if it isn’t going to be a proposal, are you thinking of spending the time with your family now? Because it seems odd, to me, for you two to spend it alone for no reason.

@VickyAurea:

But it’s not no reason. Even if he is not proposing on Christmas, he is clearly moving closer to the idea of marriage and a life with OP.

OP- I feel your pain! One year for my birthday, bf (now FI) kept hinting about my shiny birthday present. I was soo excited. It was way too early to get engaged but I really wanted some kind of a ring from him. It was a sword. After I got over my shock and disappointment, I really appreciated the gift, because he wanted to be original and he wanted to replace the swords I had lost. Guys are weird, but sweet, and they just want us to be happy.

@jpalm13:

Don’t feel guilty about feeling like an unappreciative girlfriend. I totally understand how you feel.. and especially when it’s not just jewelry but a RING! Maybe he has something up his sleeve though, perhaps this ring is only part of his christmas surprise? stay positive <3
