I need to get my Christmas shopping done so I can get things shipped, part of me wants to do it online on my lunch break and be done with it but the other part of me really likes going to the mall at Christmas and seeing things decorated and seeing the stuff I’m buying in person.
How are you doing your shopping this year?

I do probably 90% of it online for people who I mostly know what type of thing I want to purchase and I want to explore hundreds of quality and pricing options. For the kids in my family (those are usually the only ones I have no clue about) I go browsing at Target in the evenings after work and see what pops out at me. I do vastly prefer online shopping, though.

Fiance and I actually just discussed this last night. As an experiment we have decided to try to get ALL of our Christmas shopping done online.
We both hate the mall etc though so this is a fun challenge for us.

I do it all online. I am actually already done and wrapped.

@Vsmart: I did this several years ago, the first Christmas I was no longer working retail in a small city with 1 mall that was a nightmare during the holidays I decided I wasn’t going, period. I did everything online, paid the extra $1or2 to have the company wrap stuff and had it shipped directly to people. It was super convenient. Since then I’ve been a combo shopper, but I’m thinking online might be safer, less opportunity for impulse shopping and easier to stay on budget!
@eeniebeans: you’re my hero.

I do most of it online, but if I do go to the mall it’s before shopping season. I don’t wait til Black Friday.

I switched to doing most of it online. With free shipping and great online sales I never have to get out of my PJs.

Im an avid shopper but I absolutely loathe malls before christmas, so anything that can get done online absolutely does. If I cant, then yes I will go to a store. Part of it could be because the closest mall to me is the largest in the country. Its absolutely chaotic

I do most of it online, and a few in the store if I have ideas. I like to avoid the lines and chaos of holiday shopping if I can!

I’m going to do as much online as I can. The malls are ridiculous already and I don’t have the patience for the people or the parking lot!

@eeniebeans: wow! I haven’t even thought about what I am buying anyone.
I try to do as much as I can online. I do like going to the mall during the holiday season, but it is more enjoyable when you are just browsing and don’t actually HAVE to find a gift for someone.

I would like to start doing more of it online. I usually head to the mall though! I also like giving gift cards. Everyone I know likes getting them.

I love the mall atmosphere… for about 15 minutes. Then I just get annoyed with all the hustle and bustle and parking a mile away and carrying a zillion bags. So usually I try to get as much as I can online and the rest from the mall or local stores. I haven’t even started thinking about holiday shopping yet, but I think we’re going to keep it rather low-key this year.

@MsGinkgo: I will buy online if I have a bunch of stuff to get. The mall is always so busy and you can barely find a parking spot. It is so stressful in that respect, and I would rather avoid the stress of something that should be fun. It kind of sucks to not support local businesses, but sometimes it just isn’t worth it.

I always like to go to the mall at least once during the holidays just to see the decorations and have the experience. But afterwards, I always just go back online and finish my shopping there. I don’t like fighting through crowds and screaming children to get the same things I can get online with no sales tax and free shipping 🙂
