@SophieGrace:

We are having ours the weekend AFTER Christmas.  Still is the holiday season and we have had an overwelming amount of positive responses.  Ours is a wedding weekend since we are getting married in my FI’s home town and not wrere we actually live.  Even so, there is lots of folks traveling to be there.

Good Luck and Happy Planning!

Hit the after Christmas sales… lots of great stuff to use ๐Ÿ™‚

We are getting married on December 20th! I originally wanted something a little farther away from the Holidays but I think I like this date better, it makes it feel more festive. I mean what better way to prepare for the holidays than by getting new additions to the family?

@SophieGrace:  we’re the week after Christmas, before NYE. Same reason as you– we’re going to have alot of Out of Town guests and this way they can make it one big trip if they wanted. We’re thinking we’ll have alot of “yes”, others disagree and think b/c it’s close to the holiday, people may decline. We shall see.

Think of this, you’ll be married and then have your first Christmas a few days later- adorbale!

Ever since I can remember I’ve envisioned a Christmas Wedding… and I didn’t get it the first time round for my first Wedding (circa 1980)

So this time round…

I made a conscious decision to aim our Elopment to a Destination Wedding for when Mr TTR and I are on Christmas Vacation…

BUT as luck would have it… planning for Christmas Eve became quickly very very complicated (finding an Officiant was next to impossible for example)… and other things were closed for the Holidays, or more expensive

That all was a BIG DOWNER

Thankfully…

There was an UPSIDE… in the end, with it being The Holidays… Mr TTR managed to snag a bit more time off… so that means we were able to look outside of just the “Holiday Week” surrounding Christmas and New Years… so even a day or two into January made a big difference as to costing (low season) and what and who was available (companies getting back on a normal work schedule by January 2nd)

Something “Holiday Season” Brides should bear in mind… things can cost more, be not available at all… or harder to find.

Hope this helps,

We’re also the week after Christmas, FI’s birthday is January 1st so we’ll be celebrating that too. I’m from NYC, Fiance was born in NC and the wedding is in MD, so a majority of the guests are traveling. Concerned about the weather, but everything is at the same place so once everyone gets there, they stay put!

One good thing about my venue is that it’s decorated for the holidays, but since it’s a historical mansion I can’t change anything they do…but it’ll work out.

We are getting married December 14 & our theme is Winter Wonderland :). We don’t have many out of town guests and the ones we do have are close family so they’re okay with the extra cost. What is really expensive is the flight for our honeymoon! We leave December 15th and come home a few days after Christmas. It’s INSANE how much flights are!

We are having a surprise wedding. We have our annual Christmas Party every year, and this year there is going to be a surprise..Our family & closest friends gets together at christmas and we get a cabin in the mountains where we do our christmas dinner/party only about 25 people. The cabin this year is owned by a woman who also has a wedding pavilion, so as always moms will cook our Christmas Dinner turned reception and I will decorate for the “christmas Party” I know everyone will wonder why I am doing alot more decorating and cooradinating than normal, but they know me well enough to know I do things over the top. The plan is to tell everyone we are having a Semi Formal Party and there will be a Photographer there to take pictures of everyone (only he is a preacher) had to figure out how I would get away with the stranger in the room..It will be no extra cost to anyone as we are doing it anyways. I plan on wearing a white simple chiffon dress (this is gonna make people wonder)  andtrying to figure out  how I can incorporate a wedding cake as a christmas cake? We have been together for years, and 2nd wedding for both and in our late 30’s so we are not doing the whole big wedding again. The family has always assumed we would go to the courthouse and have a party after words, so I think everyone will be so excited

Myself and my fiancé are also planning a Christmas wedding for 2013 but aren’t sure what date yet (5th, 20th or 21st). Another bee on here just told me it is ‘rude’ to have a Christmas wedding and she wouldn’t come if she was invited, but luckily she’s not invited to mine or yours haha! I have the same concerns as you but, if like us you absolutely love Christmas then go for it! As I said to the previously mentioned Poster on here, a wedding is an invitation not an obligation and it might be a nice opportunity for family to meet up and see each other!

Our wedding is scheduled for 12/29…I wanted to have a NYE wedding but that as a bit more expensive than I am looking for.  Love the Christmas season so I thnk this as a great compromise.  Unfortunately, I lost one of my bridesmaids because of this change  ๐Ÿ™

December 21st, 2013 is our date! I am so excited for our Christmas wedding. We are probably going to lose a few guests to the holidays, but we are okay with that ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s so nice because a lot of the colors/decorations/music ideas and already taken care of!
