What about something autographed by a favorite player?  My DH loves baseball, and I’ve been slowly building him a collection of autographed balls from his favorite players.  Its something he loves having, but wouldn’t spend the money on himself which makes it a perfect gift.

@mrssoontobeh:  Does he get those fancy sports channels? maybe one of those packages?

Maybe one of those fancy radios with a subscription (like Sirius)? Since he spends a lot of time in the car, that might be nice.

FI is a HUGE Green Bay Packers/football fanatic (and his birthday is Christmas day….SO MUCH BUYING FUN). Over the years I have bought him: The NFL Films soundtrack, tickets to a Packers/Chiefs game plus hotel and I drove, authentic jerseys (a Brett Farve one and an Aaron Rodgers once Brett Farve “retired), an authentic helmet…hmm…I know there’s more, but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

Our first Christmas I bought him a really nice set of underarmor sweat pants…not super romantic (or expensive – maybe $80), but he LOVED them. I’ve also bought him a nice winter coat, leather gloves, The Big Book of Breasts (so silly, but he liked it), the entire series of Seinfeld on DVD, new towels (really expensive nice ones – he was living alone and using cheapy towels), a bed!….that’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

Like I said, FI’s birthday is Christmas day so I’m ALWAYS looking for gift ideas…having to buy him two gifts sucks!

Does he have a really nice poker chip set?

Or a poker table top for inviting the guys over?

@love108:  I like this ideas as well!

What is his job? Could you use a really nice work/computer bag or a nice leather overnight bag for traveling anywhere?

How about a portable grill designed for tailgating at sporting events, and then getting tickets to go with it for a game you can tailgate at with some friends and you prepare the sausages etc when the time comes.

Is there a sporting event or concert you could get tickets to? I personally LOVE experience gifts. You can even spice it up w/ accessories like @ThreeMeers: said!

Do you guys go to football games and tailgate?  I’m paint a cooler for my SO.  He actually told me he would like this because we tailgate a lot and he knows I’m poor and can’t spend much on him.  You personalize it according to whatever your SO likes. Typically guys in fraternities get them from their GFs at their formal, but the trend is catching on.  And they’re fun to do (or so I’ve heard).

Does he drink?  Some really nice whiskey could be a good gift.
