First let me say that I LOVE my ring. My Fiance def paid for quality over quantity (.83 carats). However, when people began asking to see “the ring”, i realized most would reply with “Awww, so cute” or just stay silent! Hearing this (or lack of response) has made me a little insecure since I don’t believe it’s the ring size but rather how it looks on my hand. I have very chubby and almost stumpy fingers (size 8) and I now often wonder if my ring lost its “wow” factor bc it’s being worn on a chubby hand.
Is “cute” the new “small”? I’d like to know how others with the same issue have dealt with it.

Oh no. I still can’t see any pictures but let me just tell you that I understand. I have sort of short chubby fingers myself (size 8). My main problem is that I bite my finger nails so I always felt like I had this gorgeous and very adult ring on these little kid hands. I began getting acrylic nails last month for the wedding mainly to get used to them but it also took a while. My nails were so short that they couldn’t even glue tips to them unless they did a super short overlay for 2 weeks first so that they would grow while I couldn’t bite them. Now I have a lovely natural length set and I cannot tell you what a difference it has made. My fingers look so much more slender now that I have longer nails. And my ring seems to look better on my hand now too. This may be a solution for you as well. Try to grow your nails out or get fake ones. Huge confidence booster!

nails do make a huge diff on the lenght of your fingers

0.83 is not small. People are just rude and ignorant, and cannot share others joy.
Congrats on your engagement!

My e-ring diamond is 3/8ct, so way smaller than yours. I got the “oh that’s so dainty (translation – tiny)” comments all the time. You just have to ignore it. I guess after 14 years of wearing it I have thicker skin now. 🙂
And 0.83ct is not small by any means.

My stone is a little over a carat, and people don’t really react to a ring the way you want. Some people always stay silent, some people say it’s pretty, and some people blow it off.
It’s their problem, not yours. 🙂

Here is the pic of my ring that I couldn’t upload with the original message.
Pic with slightly better lighting 🙂

Sorry for the delay in pictures!

I can see the pictures
First off… CONGRATULATIONS !!
And I would say it looks perfectly fine to me, actually quite lovely.
And as for the stubby fingers, I wouldn’t say that is your case at all…
I have very small hands with short stubby fingers (size 7) and virtually no length to my fingernails, so your hand looks 100x better than mine.
As someone who is recently engaged, I’ve received all kinds of reactions from folks. Some are thrilled to see the ring, others not so mcuh. Some make a big to-do out of the size (WOW) while others seem to almost roll their eyes at it (guessing they see it as being over-the-top… and for the record, I too have a Diamond in the 3/4 Carat range)
It is what it is…
IF you and your Fiance are happy… then that is all that matters.
