It’s official….I have my appointment to get my IUD placed. Some of you have been following my story ( http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/crushed-long cliff notes version, was TTC, no longer am TTC, getting non hormonal IUD placed in the meantime ) and it’s THURSDAY. I was expecting a few weeks to prepare, but no, I have like 36 hours to prepare. Cue freakout. Haha. So I have questions, am a little scared, want to hear your stories (good and bad!) and need reassurance…
I’ve had two pretty intense cervical procedures. I had cervical stenosis and my cervix was dilated when I was a youngin (which is good for IUD placement!) and I have had an endometrial biopsy (which is kind of like a mini D&C for comparison). The first was like, SO painful, I thought I was gonna die. The second was a walk in the park. So I really don’t know what to expect…
TOTALLY dont answer them all but….
I know there are a LOT of bees out there that have IUDs. How’d it go? What do you recommend me to do beforehand and after?
Have you have kids/cervical dilation?
Was insertion THAT painful?
1-10 on the pain scale during insertion?
1-10 on the pain scale after?
Did you get an IUD with or without hormones? Why?
How are your periods pre- and post-IUD?
How long did the procedure take from start to finish and did you return to work after?
Were you crampy the next day?
What should I anticipate the next day?
What about SEX?
Do you love your IUD? You happy? Would you get another one?
Obviously a lot of these questions I should ask the doctor and I will, I promise, but the clinic I am going to is oh so busy and you literally have seconds with a doctor so I am coming to you bees. Honestly, you guys give better advice sometimes anyway 😉 The clinic has given me very little what-to-expect advice. We do Mirenas where I work but they are different, and the insertion technique is different so I feel like it all so different! lol
Thanks in advance for everything!!!!! =)))))))
