I’m not in the medical field, but my poor Grandmother lost it a little with old age. If you asked her how her day was she was likely to respond, “Good, I had a Bridesmaid or Best Man.” So I always think about that… Also I can’t bring myself to abbreviate save the dates…

I guess I’m just immature 😛

@karissa_elaine:  yyyup I sure do. I work in the medical field but I’m in spine stuff so I didn’t think about the bowel movement lol. I do put emphasis on “so” like you do when reading SO, and it did take me flipping forever to figure out what the hell that meant. STD (save the dates) is always sexually transmitted disease to me…i don’t read it any other way lol. Let’s see….what is DH? I always call it “Dutifle Husband” but I know that’s not what it is! Also took me a while to figure out what OH (other half) was…so I thought it was “OHHHHHH!!!”  hahaha what a great thread.

Upon joining the Bee there should be a cheat sheet sent to you with all the proper abbreviations and their meanings.

Thanks for the Bridesmaid or Best Man, now I’ll never read it the same again.

For this reason, I ALWAYS type out “bridesmaid” or “Save the Date”, hahaha. I STILL giggle to myself reading topics like, “BM problems!” or “STD issues =(“

@houstonwhodat:  buahahaha! me too! I’m like, uhhhh, what’s YOUR version of an STD? b/c i’m not the type to go mailin ’em out! LOL

Bridesmaid or Best Man has ALWAYS made me think that. S.O. I’m familiar with, but I prefer the abbreviation Fh, DH/XH, Fi etc

Yup!! Took me a long time to stop reading it that way! And STD! I also rest Darling Husband as designated hitter (though that’s not medical related!)

@hollyberry4:  ok, so what is DH? Because I’m going to keep using “dutifull husband” until I’m told otherwise.

Yep I will never get past the Bridesmaid or Best Man thing. Luckily we’re not having attendants so I don’t have to write about BMs too often.

I think the CDC has changed it to STIs (infections) so in 5-10 years when that catches on universally, the Save The Dates can have their own abbreviation all to themselves.

@JoolyBee:  haha dutiful!  That’s awsome. I can’t bring myself to say Fiance because I absolutely hate that word in itself.  And I surely can’t see myself calling my husband a dear anything. SO he will probably always be a SO to me.

@Ashley_P:  Fiance as in future in law? I’m questioning my understanding of these abbreviations.
