As my name would suggest, I’m pretty dang clueless when it comes to most things wedding related – I have a bit of a stupid (maybe not?) question…
Who normally provides/sets up/removes/whatever the decorations (eg. pew bows) in the church? The church we are getting married in requires us to remove the pew decorations straight after the wedding (well, before we head off to the reception) so I’m just wondering who normally puts them up?
We’ve hired decorators for our reception venue, is this something one would normally get decorators to do? It seems such a quick, simple task and I don’t want to seem lazy, but the church is a good 30 mins away, depending on the traffic, so it’s not really convenient for either myself, the groom or any of the family to go and do on the day.
Hmmmm…perhaps the florists..since they’ll be going to the church anyway to set up the flower arrangements? Hmm..perhaps…
Any suggestions? Who set up or is going to set up any pew decorations for your ceremony?
Thanks in advance ladies!

I did them. with the help of a couple of relatives. I think this is fairly normal. My church (where I am a member) lets people do the decoration on the Friday, so I did that. You might want to ask if you can. If not, then yes, someone will need to drive out and do it on the morning of the wedding.
It’s also common to leave the flowers up after a wedding at our church – after all, it makes the church look nicer, why not leave them up for a few days? I paid a student to clean up a little though (vacuum confetti basically). If the church wants things removed, I would pay someone to do that. Unless you have a friend who doesn’t mind doing it before heading off to the reception.

@paula1248: Hi thanks for replying. I think I’m going to ask at the church if we can put them up on Friday evening before the wedding on Saturday. The usual Priest is on holiday until 2 days before our wedding(!!! lol) so hopefully the lady in the church office will be able to tell me (she doesn’t seem to like to make agree to anything without checking first). The flowers are going to be left there for however long they decide until the cleaner takes them away. It’s just the pew decorations that have to go but I can easily get a family member to quickly take them off and stick them in the boot of the car until the next day. Hmm..hopefully I can go and put them up myself the night before, I think I’d feel a bit better knowing they’re how I’d like them. Ugh, all these little details! hehehe
