We are having a church wedding with a reception at a parish hall, and we are doing the decorations ourselves so ideally I would like the wedding to be in the early afternoon, but obviously it depends on our priests schedule. The wedding is just over 9 months away- is it too soon to discuss a timetable with the priest?

I don’t think it is too early at all! It was one of the first things we dicussed with our priest. I would just say you have to start thinking about invitations and everything. I’m sure he has already thought of a time frame, as most weddings tend to be around the same time of day due to his other mass schedules.

@Follydust321 okay phew! We booked the wedding date with him when we had a year and a half to go, and he was fine with that, but I didn’t want to contact him too soon and seem pushy, especially as he is also a family friend lol. I need to contact him anyway though as my FI is not Catholic and at our church we have to attend a sort of pre-marital course for 6 weeks to discuss techniques for dealing with difficulties etc, so I guess it’s better I call him sooner rather than later!

No.. I think we discussed it with our pastor well over a year before the wedding. Some churches have certain times allotted for weddings on Saturdays and schedule their church events around them. Our church does all their weddings at 3 or 3:30, and I’ve heard of other churches doing the same. Just ask!
