For our wedding we’ve hired a churro truck to make fresh churros for guests rather than serve cake. We will still have a small cake to cut just for the traditional picture. However now I’m wondering if I should also have a few extra desserts on cake table? The churro truck will be serving at the venue for 3 hrs. and will serve fresh hot churros and offer different toppings. I guess my concern is I don’t want the cake table to look too empty…

cdcd87 : I love churros, so I’m biased when I say that churros would be enough. Will you serve hot chocolate also? I ask because that combination is the norm where I live. As to the cake table, you could add some vases with flowers and it would be lovely:

cdcd87 : I think a churros truck is an awesome idea and I don’t think you need anything else. For those people (freaks 😜) that don’t love churros, well they can have a slice of your cake.
As for your cake table, a lot of weddings I go to they either scatter rose petals on the table or put the bridal party bouquets on it. It saves paying for more flowers!

More desserts is never a bad thing! But if the only reason you are considering it is that you are worried about how the table would look I think the suggestions PPs made make more sense than adding more desserts which would probably be more expensive.
Churros are awesome and as a guest I would be totally satisfied with just churros. Honestly, I’d skip the cake completly and just use a churro for the “cake” cutting.

I don’t get the ‘were only doing this for pictures’ mentality. I’d skip the cake and do a cute churro picture instead.
that said I think churros are just fine.

If you have a cake, you need to offer cake to guests. Let’s imagine you’ve invited some friends over for a baked chicken dinner. Chicken, potatoes, vegetables, rolls, dessert – great meal right? They don’t need anything more. But all evening, you’re tending to a pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove. You stir, season, and taste the sauce. You offer your husband a taste, to see what he thinks. Everyone can see and smell that it’s there. Maybe they love fresh, homemade spaghetti sauce. They might even prefer it to chicken. But it’s not for them, you’re just making the sauce to freeze for later. That would be strange, and kind of rude, right? Make your sauce some other night. The cake is no different. Either have enough cake for anyone who wants it or just offer churros. You can take pictures of a ceremonial bite of churro just the same as you would with cake.

cdcd87 : I don’t think you need more desserts. The wedding cake and churro truck are enough. My cousin did something similar. She had a beignet stand with an attendant making them fresh for the guests.

You can decorate the wedding cake table + churros and it should be enough

I would have a churro and desert table since you are going to have a wedding cake
