Lots od Pictures below the Post!
I wanted to share my Mexican wedding journey with the fellow bees. When I first started playing my wedding I realized I wanted to have a good time since me and my hubby love dancing and happy hour! I knew we wanted margaritas and Mexican beer at the wedding. Were both first generation Mexican American so food, alcohol and dancing needed to be a big part of our wedding. Were also very in touch with the Mexican culture so it felt natural to want to have a fiesta. Everyone was in shock when I told them I was having a ranch wedding…Location Diablo Ranch in Walnut Creek, CA. (review on location later unlimited hours is all I’ll say)
The reaction of my friends and family wasn’t want I expected! It actually made me very sad that they weren’t as involved and excited about our Cinco de Mayo theme wedding. Needless to say I stop caring about pleasing people and went on with my Mexican themed wedding. During my journey for the perfect theme I remember how much I loved playing a Mexican bingo game called Loteria…That’s when it hit me, I was going to be LA Dama and fiancé would be El Catrin… After that decision it would all fall into place. Table numbers would be loteria cards with our picture in them. Centerpieces would be terracotta pots called jarritos, and all our flower décor would be in huge terrcotta Mexican pots!
Yes, I wanted a Candy table nothing but Mexican candy, and alcohol would be margaritas, sangria, and Mexican beer and Mexican waters sandia, horchata, and jamaica agua frescas & No soda. Photo booth was made from a ranch stall with Mexican papel picado and with Mexican hats and props (lips and mustaches) for the guest. Wedding invitations papel picado, décor would be papel picado and pom poms… Cake would be papel picado inspired and everything would be colorful! We also had a casino, since me and the hubby love blackjack and craps… Did I forget to mention the pool table!
All under $15,000 (that’s also another subject I will be posting shortly)
I don’t have my professional pictures back until another 4 weeks from now but I wanted to share some pictures that friends and family took.
Lets just say our wedding has been the talk of family and friends… OMG I love your wedding! It was so unique, when is your next party! It was the best wedding we been too! Can you help me with my wedding! Perfect! Fabulous! So much Fun!
Moral of the story don’t try and make people happy on your special day! Make yourself and future hubby happy and your wedding will be perfect! It also helps that those same people that judged your taste are asking for help coordinating there event…Sometimes its about breaking the norm and following your vision…
If anyone has negative input remember everyone has a right to get married and choose how they planned their day! We choose Cinco de Mayo and had a blast!
As for us we partied until the next morning like a true Mexican!
