Just a quick question. My fiance and I are on a budget so we weren’t planning on doing food at the reception. However, recent events have transpired and we are now able to have a little bit to eat. Still, we don’t want a whole lot of food. We were thinking of getting some sandwich platters with like half sandwiches. Is this way tacky?

Um.. kind of depends on the feel that you were already going for. What about finger sandwiches or wraps in slices? I think those might present a little bit better… You could also consider doing a variety of canaps… Veggies, cheese plate, antipasto platter, etc.

Are you having a casual reception?

Just make sure your wedding reception time does not go over a meal time, and that it is abundantly clear to everyone that no meal is forthcoming at the reception. I would then do some easy snacks to go with the cake and punch.

Have you ever thought about having a “Cake & punch” reception? I think it would be clear to your guests you weren’t serving a full meal & it would be more cost effective. Sandwiches are kind of like a meal, but not really.
Cake & punch receptions are very sweet and romantic. If you want to serve a little more than cake, you could always do a nice fruit & cheese display! The idea of a cake & punch reception is to highlight the cake & the moment to celebrate with your guests!
How cute is a setup like this? (insert a cake!) lol
