- Wedding: May 2013
My partner and I decided to elope at City Hall, and I have absolutely no regrets. Our day was perfect, and exactly how we wanted it. I don’t have all of the photos back, but wanted to share a few of the ones we do have.
So that we didn’t lose or forget our wedding bands, we tied them to our wrists with ribbon. I wish we had gotten a few more photos of this or of our rings.
The mayor married us, and did a short but cute ceremony. My partner and I keep joking that he is going to run for political office – he was schmoozing us, which I have no complaints about. he did keep trying to get us to make out which was a little weird. I appreciated that at our City Hall they ask for a donation to perform the ceremony, and that donation goes to the food bank. Anyway, our first kiss.. with not enough make out, per the mayor.
After the ceremony, we took a few photos on the City Hall property. It was still pretty intimate – just the two of us and our photographer.
We wanted to get some pictures with our dogs, who for some unknown reason were remarkably well behaved.
We wanted to get a few photos at one of our favorite local restaurants. Unfortunately they didn’t capture the whole amazing view off of the patio. We live about ten minutes from downtown, but the patio allows you to easily see it.
After some time enjoying the patio and just chatting with our photographers, we went back home for a few hours. We just relaxed and I took it easy because I still wasn’t feeling well. That evening we got dinner with just a few friends. It was so nice to sleep in the next day – the day we got married (May 15) was a deadline for some conference proposals for me so I didn’t sleep the night before and had nerves for a few days before. So far, married life is wonderful 🙂
