My fiance and I are having a civil ceremony but I’m not quite sure what is appropriate to wear. Fiance will be wearing a nice suit but I am having a harder time deciding. Do I have to wear white? If I do wear white, would it look weird if I wore a floor length gown (no train) to the courthouse? Or is a non-white cocktail dress ok? Is it okay to wear black to the ceremony?

your (and FI’s) wedding: wear whatever the heck you want!

I think a nice, knee length dress would be very cute! shabbyapple.com has lots of adorable, reasonably priced dresses. I don’t think you need to wear white unless you want to. Good luck!

I’ve recently seen REALLY cute pictures of the couple who got married at the cityhall. The bride wore white, strapless knee-legth silk ( or so it looked) dress and green ( think Granny Smith apple)silk pumps. She had bright pink and green bouquet and black coat ( the pix were taken in winter). Groom wore black suit, beige-y tie and sox the color of her shoes ( granny smith apple green). I think they looked adorable. http://wedding.knsaber.com/gallery?view=wedding&album=10569#16
However, I think you can wear anything you want.
