My fiancé is being deployed in May. He really wants us to be married before he goes so we are doing a couryhiuse wedding with parents and siblings only in April. We are also planning a big wedding celebration for summer 2016 when he is back. We both really want to be able to have bridesmaids and groomsmen and say vows in front of all of our loved ones. We will be sending out announcements after the ceremony that will also serve as save the dates. My question is what people have called the second ceremony/vow renewal. I would love examples of wording for these announcements of our marriage and plan of the later wedding celebration

You’re right — it’s a vow renewal!

reaf3908: Hun, you don’t have to tell people you’re already married. Most of the military couples I know don’t even mention that they got married prior to the ceremony (I’m a military wife so I see this ALL of the time) and if they did that is their business. If people ask, sure you can mention it if you want to but you’re in no way obligated to do so.
If you want to call it a celebration of marriage then do so.

reaf3908: me and my fi-to-be are thinking about doing this, too!! it just seems financially feasible at the moment and just what we need. our fear is that family will get upset.
